Ted Haggard was forced to resign nearly four years ago as president of the politically powerful National Association of Evangelicals and to step down from the megachurch he founded, after admitting that he had bought methamphetamine from, and had a sexual encounter with, a gay prostitute.
In July of this year, he now claims that he has "over-repented" for his encounters with rentboy Mike Jones, that he has no same-sex attraction, and that what occurred between he and Jones was merely "a massage gone awry."
Ole Ted has some other things he hasn't been open about. Former close Bush adviser, Rev. Ted, was a member of the Council on National Policy until a sex and drugs scandal forced him out in late 2006. He was also a member of Joel’s Army, also known as the Manifest Sons of God.
He is back in the pulpit preaching in Colorado Springs. I think the thing that bothers me the most about this is that several leaders of the New Apostolic Reformation have been exposed for their sexual sin - some of which have been same-sex attraction. Something is just plain wrong about that!
