1893 – First conference of the World Parliament of Religions is held, which is the first attempt to create a global dialogue of faiths.
1978 – U.S. President Jimmy Carter, President Anwar Sadat of Egypt, and Prime Minister Menachem Begin of Israel meet at Camp David and agree on the Camp David Accords a framework for peace between Israel and Egypt and a comprehensive peace in the Middle East.
1990 - President George Bush calls the Gulf War an opportunity for the New World Order. In an address to Congress entitled Toward a New World Order, Mr. Bush said:
"The crisis in the Persian Gulf offers a rare opportunity to move toward an historic period of cooperation. Out of these troubled times... a new world order can emerge in which the nations of the world, east and west, north and south, can prosper and live in harmony.... Today the new world is struggling to be born."2001 – The 9/11 attacks take place in New York City. Eleven years to the day after President Bush [Senior] delivered his speech to Congress entitled Toward a New World Order.
2005 – The State of Israel completes its unilateral disengagement from the Gaza Strip.
2007 – Russia tests the largest conventional weapon ever, the Father of all bombs.
